Sobre o Caminhar to be performed again!

5pm, Instituto Moreira Salles, Rio de Janeiro, Saturday 28th November 2009.
Sobre o Caminhar to be performed in Brazil

On the 22nd August 2009 at 5pm, Under Construction will be performing a redeveloped, Brazilian version of A Walk Between entitled Sobre o Caminhar at the Instituto Moreira Salles, Gavea, in Rio de Janeiro. The piece will be performed as part of the 100 year celebration of the birth of Roberto Burle Marx, the famous Brazilian landscape designer who designed the gardens at Moreira Salles. This commission has given us the opportunity to take many of the ideas we explored at Southside House, Wimbledon (2007) further; most notably travel and discovery and the visual possibilities of describing place. Furthermore it is fitting to locate our ideas about home and where we come from in Tania's birthplace following our work in England and lengthy artistic exploration of the emotional and physical sense of being "at home".

*Imaginary Journeys: The Travel Agencies*

Lizzy has just returned from five weeks in Cornwall working as an artist on the latest WildWorks project. http://www.wildworks.biz (Click here for more information about this Cornish Landscape Theatre Company)

Happening across seven towns in Cornwall, each town had a set of three/four artists to facilitate a community project that took place in empty shops. Lizzy was based in Liskeard, and due to a difficulty securing an empty shop (surprisingly during the current climate) we decided to conduct our travel agency peripatetically, as The Travelling Postal Agents... on bicycles! 405 postcards of messages to the past and wishes for the future and 60 parcels of hope were collected and exhibited. Photos to be posted soon!

February 2009.

*Brazil/England Project*

Underconstruction are currently developing a performance research project to take place in both Brazil and England in 2009. For this we hope to continue our investigation of the performative description of place through a peripatetic gathering and exchange of stories along the coastline of both countries.
